Many consider the Khao Sok National Park to be
one of the most beautiful and least visited national
parks in Thailand.
The pristine, moist evergreen
forest abounds with wildlife and fascinating plants. |
|
The park provides an adventure for botanists, environmentalists,
naturalists or anyone interested in exploring plant and wildlife in
a rain forest.
Ploenprai Rafthouse floats on the sparkling waters
of the CHIEOW LAAN LAKE, the heart of the
KHAO SOK NATIONAL PARK.

|
|
Swim
in the lake beneath the towering cliffs and caves in a setting right
out of a fairy tale.
Take walks in the surrounding rain forest through a wonderland
consisting of waterfalls, caves and large natural pools of cool
clear water. Kayak down the river past cliffs, forest, and farms.
|
As you probably already know, Khao Sok National Park is a rain forest. Thus, rains fall throughout
the year. However, from June through November, the rains can be especially heavy. Some park
walks are closed, but you can still enjoy a memorable stay on the lake and in the forest.
You can float through this majestic landscape in a canoe or inner tubes, take elephant treks, and
many other interesting excursions to nearby villages. Here is our suggested itinerary
|
|
|
|
Pick up at any Southern Thailand town, train station or
airport by air conditioned car or mini-bus to our raft house
at Khao Sok.
After
a delicious lunch and settling in to your room you have the choice of
relaxing at the rafthouse or taking a Half day hike - with a guide experienced
in the ways of the jungle. Walk through a rain
forest
crisscrossed with
|
waterfalls and steams teeming with thick
bamboo, thorny rattan, pandanus and other tropical flora and fauna.
|
|
|
Chiew
Larn Lake is one of the most strikingly beautiful places you'll ever
visit. After breakfast we then head off on a guided walk through the
jungle with a stop at a waterfall.
Perhaps the weather will allow a walk through Namtaloo Cave. After returning to the raft houses
for a refreshing swim in the lake we can later, in the afternoon, board a longtail boat and coast
along the lakeshore. This gives you a excellent opportunity to spot some of the flora and fauna
located on the banks of the lake.
|
|
|
|
In the morning you can relax in the beautiful setting of the rafthouse before departing for your
next destination in the South. On the way we stop at an elephant camp. This is a reputable camp
with gentle animals whom are well cared for by the Mahouts (elephant keepers).
The trek lasts for two hours along a beautiful rain forest track with time for a swim at a picturesque
waterfall along the way. Then it's onwards to your next destination.
