We are an ethical travel company offering tours and accommodation on Cheow Lan Lake in Khao Sok National Park. In the Beginning

Andaman Discoveries started out as a non-profit venture in response to the Tsunami disaster in 2004. Then called, North Andaman Tsunami Relief, our focus was on rebuilding communities in an ecologically sound and environmentally sustainable way that would allow them to preserve their way of life. The gorgeous location of Lake Cheow Lan (or Khao Sok Lake as we call it) is nestled between the dramatic limestone cliffs of Southern Thailand and the sprawling setting of Khao Sok National Park. Today guests come from all areas of the world to witness the pristine peacefulness of the location while staying at the many floating bungalows that Andaman Discoveries has to offer. Constructed primarily out of local, sustainable materials, our awe-inspiring floating bungalows offers travelers the unique adventure of living at one with nature.

Floating Bungalows of Khao Sok

Known widely as floating bungalows, these authentic Thai raft houses are popular accommodations for world travelers visiting Khao Sok National Park. Generally serene and secluded, staying in a floating bungalow is a great way to commune with the abundance of nature surrounding this scenic area.

There are 2 ways to experience the magic of Cheow Lan Lake: as a guided tour (which we recommend) or as accommodation only. A large part of the expense of traveling to these remote floating bungalows is the long tail boat transportation, so we have taken time to explain these costs on each of the individual accommodation pages. (Keep in mind that each of these locations is remote and fairly isolated and without a guide it is difficult to facilitate activities)

KHAO SOK LAKE RAFT HOUSES

There are 16 raft house operations on Khao Sok Lake. This means clusters of floating bungalows are dotted all along the lake, you just need to decide which is best for you! Some are maintained by the National Park, and some are privately owned. We are the best place you can get direct access to both and make an informed decision.

PRIVATE SAFARIS, 2-4 Days

In a Khao Sok Lake private safari, you and your group have your own boat and English-speaking guide for the duration of your stay with us. This allows you to customize your program to fit your unique travel needs and allows your departure and arrival times to be more flexible. It also allows you to select the floating bungalow of your choice, pending availability of course. If you have 5 or more people, the price per person is the same as the group tour.

GROUP SAFARIS

Because transportation is a large part of the expense of visiting Khao Sok Lake, we are able to offer you a discounted rate by joining you with a larger group. Meeting other travelers is one of the best parts of spending your holiday abroad and makes experiences even more memorable. With the group option we guarantee the quality of your trip, but not the individual raft house.
