Apartments are a convenient way of staying in Thailand by providing a full or partial kitchen for your food preparation. Since Thais are able to prepare a many-dish meal using only a single burner stove and often a single pan don't be surprised if the kitchen area of an apartment is more simple than you're used to.

If you are going to be a serious chef, ask the apartment owner for directions to the local fresh markets and small local stores are that are common in all villages and towns. Be experimental and creative and don't be shy about trying the many spices and condiments you find at the markets, and have fun while saving money.
